An abortion doctor has been charged with eight counts of murder following investigation by a grand jury in Philadelphia. Dr. Kermitt Gosnell and nine of his associates were all charged with murder.
The doctor was performing late term abortions by cutting into the babies’ necks to sever the spinal cords after removing them from the body of the mother. Some of the babies were as mature as seven or eight months. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams described the details of the case as follows:
“My comprehension of the English language can’t adequately describe the barbaric nature of Dr. Gosnell.”
“There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses were scattered throughout the building,” said Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams. “There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose.”
Gosnell and his associates were arrested Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
